Do Actifry Chips Have Syns On Slimming World?

If you haven't invested in an Actifry yet on the slimming world plan, you are missing out on lots of healthier recipes without the need for oil.

Actifry chips are indeed syn free on the slimming world plan as long as they are made with low-calorie spray oil, when using regular oil you need to syn your chips at two syns per portion.

Down below we will cover why Actifry chips are better than regular chips, how to make your own SYN free actifry chips as well as an oven method for making syn free slimming world chips if you don't have an actifry at home.

Why Are Actifry Chips Healthier Than Regular Chips?

Actifry is all the rage nowadays for making slimming world chips, they are much healthier than your standard chips due to the fact they need a tiny amount of oil to cook with as the heated air in the machine circulates the chips to cook them.

You can make Actifry chips even healthier by using low cal spray oil which is syn free rather than normal vegetable oil.

How To Make Your Own SW Syn Free Actifry Chips

Making your own SYN FREE Actifry chips is as easy as can be, all you need is your potatoes and your Actifry then you are ready to go!


  • Two Maris Piper potatoes (or more depending on serving).
  • Spices such as paprika, salt, black pepper and chilli.
  • Low cal cooking spray.


  1. Firstly, peel your potatoes, slice them into chips then rinse and pat dry.
  2. Preheat your actifry for a few minutes then put the chips inside, give a couple of sprays with your low cal cooking oil and then put your desired seasoning on, shake a few times to combine.
  3. Cook for around 20-30 minutes shaking once halfway until they are golden and fluffy on the inside.

Slimming World Syn Free Oven Chips Recipe

If you don't have an actifry at home, you can still make SYN FREE slimming world chips, just follow our recipe below which will cost you only 45 minutes and is SYN FREE.


  • 850g of Maris Piper potatoes.
  • Low cal spray oil.
  • Seasoning.


  1. To begin preheat your oven to gas mark 9 then peel the potatoes and cut them into chips.
  2. Parboil the cut chips for around 4 minutes in boiling water then drain and leave to dry.
  3. Shake up the chips in the pan to make them fluffy then transfer to a sprayed pan and spray the chips themselves with some low cal cooking oil.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes then season and place on kitchen towel, serve once cooled slightly!

To conclude, Actifry chips are indeed syn free on the slimming world plan as long as you are using low-calorie cooking spray oil rather than standard oil to cook them with, if you are using standard oil then you will need to ensure you syn them at 2 syns a portion.
