Bananas, in particular, are syn free on the slimming world but do have syns once mashed, after mashing you’ll find that you need to syn them at; 4 syns for a small banana, 5 syns for a medium banana and 5.5 syns for a large banana mashed.

Our Favourite SW Banana Recipes 

If you’ve got some ripe bananas lying around and don’t want to put them to waste, there are plenty of low syn SW recipes to make with them, we’ve listed two favourites down below, one for banana bread and the other for a muffin! 

Slimming World Banana Bread

This slimming world banana bread has 7 syns a serving or one healthy extra B and 1.5 syns for fibre, the whole bread makes 3 mini loaves. 


  • Two eggs. 
  • 120g of oats. 
  • Pinch of baking powder. 
  • 15g of raisins. 
  • 50g of long sliced bananas. 
  • Six spoons of fat-free natural yoghurt.
  • Pinch of cinnamon. 
  • Six spoons of sweetener.


  1. To begin, blend the oats up in a processor to make flour while heating the oven to gas mark 4.
  2. Mix a pinch of salt, raisins, baking powder and cinnamon in a bowl then take another bowl and combine the yoghurt, sweetener and egg. 
  3. Combine with the oat mix. 
  4. Grease your mini loaf trays then spread the mix inside, top with your slices of banana and bake for about 40 minutes, serve with more yoghurt!

Slimming World Banana Muffin

This banana muffin recipe has just 3 syns a muffin and makes nine from the recipe. 


  • 15g of dark chocolate chips. 
  • 100g of flour. 
  • 100g of banana.
  • Three eggs. 
  • Pinch of baking soda. 
  • Pinch of baking powder. 
  • Half a cup of sweetener granulated. 


  1. Start by heating the oven to gas mark 4 then add your baking powder and soda plus flour to a bowl and combine, mash together the sweetener and banana in another bowl while whisking in the eggs. 
  2. Mix the wet ingredients into your dry until combined then add the chocolate. 
  3. Spray your muffin tray, fill it evenly with the mix and bake for 25 minutes.

Overall, banana is a syn free fruit on the slimming world, but only when eaten as a whole fruit, once mashed the banana will have syns according to size, for example, a small banana will have around 4 syns.
