Ingredients
Serves 1
- 40g rolled oats (Healthy Extra B) (Use as your HEB — weigh accurately)
- 1 large egg
- 0.5, mashed ripe banana
- 60ml skimmed milk
- large handful mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries)
- 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- few drops vanilla extract
- for the ramekin Frylight cooking spray
Method
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C fan (200°C conventional).
- 2
Spray a ramekin or small ovenproof dish (approximately 300ml capacity) with Frylight.
- 3
In a bowl, mix together the rolled oats, egg, mashed banana, skimmed milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 4
Fold in most of the berries, reserving a small handful for the top.
- 5
Pour the oat mixture into the prepared ramekin.
- 6
Scatter the remaining berries over the top of the mixture.
- 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 22–25 minutes until the top is set, slightly golden, and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- 8
Leave to cool for 2–3 minutes — it will be very hot inside — then eat directly from the ramekin.

FAQs
Are baked oats syn-free on Slimming World?
Yes — as long as you use your 40g of rolled oats as your Healthy Extra B allowance. The egg, banana, skimmed milk (in small quantities), berries, cinnamon, and vanilla extract are all free on Slimming World. Frylight spray is free. The entire recipe costs zero syns when the oats are used as your HExB. If you have already used your HExB on something else that day, the oats themselves would cost around 6 syns — still very manageable within a standard daily allowance.
Can I make baked oats without banana?
Yes — the banana adds natural sweetness and helps bind the oat mixture, but it can be replaced. Fat-free yogurt (3–4 tbsp) works well as a substitute and gives a slightly tangier flavour. A tablespoon of sweetener can replace the sweetness the banana provides. The egg is what does the structural binding work, so the banana is more about flavour and moisture than structure. Without banana, the baked oats will be slightly less sweet and a little more savoury — consider adding extra berries to compensate.
How do I know when baked oats are cooked through?
Baked oats are ready when the top is set and lightly golden, and a skewer or toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs. The centre should feel set and springy when gently pressed, not liquid or soft. If the top is browning too quickly before the centre is set, cover loosely with a piece of foil and continue baking. Baked oats continue to set slightly as they cool, so removing them just as the centre is set gives the best texture after the resting period.
