How Many Syns in Weetabix?
By Jenny Updated
Weetabix is genuinely one of my favourite Slimming World breakfasts and I'm so glad it works so well with the plan. Two biscuits count as your Healthy Extra B, which means they're completely free — no syns at all — and they fill me up properly until lunchtime, which not every breakfast manages to do.
I've been having Weetabix since I was a kid and the fact that I don't have to give it up makes sticking to plan so much easier. The key thing to know is that the HExB portion is specifically two biscuits, which weighs 37.5g.
If you go to three biscuits you're into syn territory — roughly 6 syns for three — so it's really worth sticking to the two. I like mine with cold semi-skimmed milk (which you can use from your HExA allowance), a sliced banana, and sometimes a tiny drizzle of honey if I'm feeling fancy.
It's quick, filling, and it genuinely never gets boring when you switch up the toppings. If you've been avoiding cereal on plan thinking it's all too synny, Weetabix is absolutely worth revisiting — it's one of the most generous HExB choices going.

Ready Brek Original 30g
FREE as HExBReady Brek is another great HExB cereal and it's particularly good in winter — smooth, warming, and really filling. The same rule applies: stick to the 30g portion to keep it free.
Shredded Wheat 1 biscuit
FREE as HExB optionOne Shredded Wheat biscuit can count as part of your HExB choice. It has a slightly different texture to Weetabix — a bit more robust and not as soft — but it's just as wholesome and just as filling.
Oats 30g
FREE as HExBRolled oats (30g dried) are a brilliant HExB option and incredibly versatile — overnight oats, porridge, or even baked oat recipes. Great for days when you want something a bit different from a biscuit-style cereal.

What Slimming World members say
Weetabix generates more confusion than almost any other food on Slimming World — not because the answer is complicated (two original biscuits = HExB, completely free) but because they are listed in the wrong section of the Slimming World app.
"I rejoined SW and 2 Weetabix with skimmed milk counted as 6 syns... then I found it — it's under crispbreads and cereals, not the cereals section!"
via Mumsnet — Weetabix why syn value??
"2x standard Weetabix are a HexB on the Extra Easy plan. Not all the literature shows this but the website list does"
via Mumsnet — Weetabix thread, community resolution
Community watch-out: Weetabix Banana (7.5 syns for two) was removed from the HExB list and is now synned. Members who switched flavours got caught out. The rule: only plain original Weetabix qualifies. Chocolate Weetabix is 8 syns for two biscuits (or HExB + 2 syns, not fully free).
FAQs
Is Weetabix free on Slimming World?
Two Weetabix biscuits (37.5g) are completely free when you use them as your Healthy Extra B choice for the day. This is one of the most generous HExB options because the portion is satisfying and the cereal is genuinely filling. If you eat Weetabix on top of an already-used HExB, or if you have more than two biscuits, you'll need to syn the extra. But within the two-biscuit HExB portion, it costs you nothing and counts towards your daily fibre intake too.
How many Weetabix can I have free on Slimming World?
The free portion is exactly two Weetabix biscuits, which is 37.5g. That's your Healthy Extra B allowance used up for the day — you get one HExB per day on the Extra Easy plan, so once you've had your two Weetabix that's it for cereal. A third biscuit would add approximately 6 syns to your day, and a fourth would bring it to around 12 syns. It's worth knowing that number so you're not accidentally spending a large chunk of your daily allowance on an extra biscuit without realising.
Is Weetabix Protein the same as regular Weetabix for HExB?
Yes, Weetabix Protein counts as your HExB in the same way as regular Weetabix — two biscuits for free. The protein variety has a slightly higher calorie count per biscuit (around 173 calories for two versus 168 for original), but it still qualifies as the Healthy Extra B portion. Some members prefer the protein version because it keeps them feeling fuller for longer, which can really help on days when you know you've got a long stretch between meals. Both are a solid, satisfying breakfast choice on plan.
What about Weetabix Crispy Minis — are they the same syns?
No, the Weetabix Crispy Minis are not the same as original Weetabix for syn or HExB purposes. The Crispy Minis — including both the Fruit & Nut and Chocolate varieties — are not an approved HExB option, so they need to be synned in full. A 40g portion of Crispy Minis Fruit & Nut is around 9 syns, and the Chocolate Minis come in at roughly 9.5 syns for the same weight. They're a nice occasional treat but very much a syn food, so it's well worth being aware if you'd been assuming they counted the same as the original biscuits.
Can I have milk on my Weetabix on Slimming World?
Absolutely — and it's one of the best things about having Weetabix on plan. You can use your Healthy Extra A allowance for milk, which means you can have a generous amount of semi-skimmed milk (350ml) completely free alongside your free Weetabix. That makes for a really satisfying, zero-syn breakfast from start to finish. Whole milk gives you a smaller HExA portion but is still free within that allowance. If you go over your HExA milk portion you'd need to syn the extra, but for a normal bowl of cereal most people sit comfortably within the allowance.
